Employment Service Promotion Directorate
Collects & compiles labour market information; Issues/renews work permit and work permit clearances to foreign nationals & Ethiopian nationals; Undertakes studies on foreign employment opportunities for Ethiopians; Issues license to private employment agencies & monitors its proper implementation; Undertakes follow-up activities on the rights & dignities of Ethiopians employed abroad.

Directorate of Harmonious Industrial Relation
Organizes workshops, seminars & symposiums regarding industrial relations and also prepares study and research reports, and provides education and training on same; Examines the relevance of promulgated policies, laws, regulations and directives with regard to industrial relations; Ensures the existence of industrial peace between employers and trade unions by studying the causes of industrial disputes and methods to resolve it; Promotes tripartite cooperation among government employers and workers; Assists unions and employer organizations when requested; Promotes collective bargaining by providing training for concerned bodies; Provides advisory services on the labour law for employers and workers.

Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment Department
Follows-up the proper implementation of directives, polices and international labour conventions; Conducts study and research and generates policy ideas; Follow-up the implementation of occupational safety, health and working environment laws, rules & regulations in establishments; Undertakes capacity building activities in the areas of occupational safety, health and working environment for regional bureaus..

Rehabilitation Affairs Department
Conducts research and study regarding the socio-economic wellbeing of older persons; Support & rehabilitation of people with disabilities; Prevention and resettlement of victims of social problems; Deals with policies, rules and regulations pertaining to the aforementioned sections of the society.

Plan & Programe Preparation and Reform Implimentation Directorate
Coordinates and manages the strategic and annual plans, short term, medium and long term programs of the Ministry; Ensures the evaluation of regular work plans and projects and presentation of performance reports; Analyses project outcome and encountered problems and recommends how the problems can be solved and better result can be achieved; Searches for local and international financial and technical supports for programs and projects implementation; In collaboration with other work units, designs the Ministry’s policy direction concerning labour and social affairs issues.

Human Resource Dev't and Admin. Directorate
Manages all administrative tasks of the Ministry; Based on cost effectiveness, ensures whether the Ministry’s properties are used properly; Manages property controls; Coordinates the human resource aspects and records of same.

Procurement ,Finance and Management Directorate
Prepares & implements annual budget; Allocates the annual recurrent and capital budgets; According to the finance rules and regulations controls the utilized budget and expenses; Provides financial reports to internal & external users.

Audit Service Directorate
Undertakes the execution of performance audit in selected working units to ensure that the performances of different working units of the Ministry is based on economic efficiency and prepares evaluation reports; Conducts situational analysis, checks accounting, material management and recoding against pertinent polices and makes suggestion that can enhance the controlling task and implements the same up on approval.

Women Affairs
Ensures proper implementations of polices and directives related to women; Undertakes activities towards awareness creation on gender issues; Undertakes study & research and recommends ways of developing the participation and role of women in development activities in accordance with the Ministry’s mandates.

Legal Service Directorate
Provides legal and policy related advises to senior official and different work units of the Ministry; Prepares draft laws, proclamations, regulations and directives; Provides suggestions regarding international agreements and conventions; Litigates representing the Ministry when cases arise.

Public Relation & Communication Directorate
Follow up the proper implementation of agreements & Conventions that Ethiopia has signed with continental and international organizations and submits implementation reports of the same to the concerned international organizations; In accordance with the Ministry’s mission, follow up the country’s social activities and prepares articles, statistical statements, fliers, charts, pictures, films, etc through the Federal government’s official language and other foreign languages.

Family Affairs Team
In accordance to the mandate of the Ministry, the Team plans, coordinates and performs activities related to marriage and family welfare such as awareness raising programs, conduct relevant studies, initiates policy ideas, initiates and promotes family programs and projects, and collaborates with relevant actors.

Information Communication Technology Directorate
Designs, develops & implements information systems; Develops & administers databases; Establishes & administers Networks; Provides technical supports to other work units in use of systems; Overall, manages all ICT related issues.
