Social development and Women Affairs Team(SDWAT)

This team works on:

  1. Children Affairs - (Concerning on the following tasks):

    • Care and Support
    • Enabling to Develop a sense of Identity and Belongingness
    • Implementing all International and National conventions and legal instruments concerning the rights of children
    • Elimination of harmful traditional practices with regard to child -rearing.
    • Expansion of child - development - oriented day care centers, kindergartens and other services
    • Creating environment conducive to addressing problems of children in especially difficult circumstances.
    • Enabling orphaned and abandoned children to get the assistance they need and to eventually be self sufficient.
    • To provide protection against child abuse and neglect.

  2. Youth Affairs - (Concerning on the following tasks):

    • To create opportunities for youth to develop their abilities and become productive citizens making significant contributions to the development of the country.
    • Providing youth with appropriate vocational/technical training, job placement services and related support in order to enable them to make effective contributions to the development of their country.
    • To establish a variety of leisure - time services and programmes and recreation centers.
    • To organize Vocational /technical training and counseling services for young people who have either dropped out of school or completed high school and could not find jobs.
    • Efforts given to the youth to organize themselves into youth associations for the purpose of safeguarding the enjoyment of all their rights and for engaging in all developmental activities.

  3. Family Affairs - (Concerning on the following tasks).

    • Acting on laws that will ensure the social welfare of the family as an institution and strengthen matrimonial bonds.
    • To facilitate and develop mechanisms for the extension of economic and social assistance to families in especially difficult circumstances.
    • To design programs in order to educate the public about the harmfulness of some traditional practices.

  4. Women's Affairs - (Concerning on the following tasks):

    • To enhance access to health care services and to protect them from all social and cultural pressures to which they are subjected on account of their sex.
    • Enabling low income women who need particular assistance to lighten their work load and play a meaningful role in the social, economic and political life of the country
    • To give women appropriate and timely pre-natal, perinatal and post-natal care.
    • To design and disseminate educational programs in order to eliminate harmful traditional practices negatively affecting the welfare and dignity of women through awareness creation.
    • To launch programs of rehabilitation for women in especially difficult circumstances;
    • To act /and/or enforce laws and regulations aimed at protecting women from all kinds of potential and actual abuses.
