South Wollo Labour and Social Affairs Branch Office is established many years ago for the purpose of helping vulnerable groups of the Society. It has two main departments. These are Labour and Social Affairs. It gives a pull service for other three Zonal Branch Offices these are:

1. South Wollo agricultural and rural development Branch Office
2. outh Wollo Youth, Culture and Sport Affairs Branch Office and
3. essie soil laboratory office

South Wollo Labour and Social Affairs Branch Office giving technical and professional assistance for East Amhara Regional Labour relation Bourd and Dessie Orthopedic Center . It is a well know fact that South Wollo is prone to social problems due to the prevalence of drought and HIV/AIDS in a high extent. We are responsible in finding a solution for people who are affected by social problems in collaboration with our bureau, governmental and non-governmental organizations. Still it continue its activity by covering a large area of the zone (18 wordas). The beneficiaries who are getting a service from our office are:(in the social affairs team)

1. Orphans
2. isplaced people (came from Assab and Eritrea due to the conflict made by Ethiopia and Eritrea).
3. isabled people
4. ld age people
5. bandon, street and labour exploited children
6. oman and other people who are affected by social problems.

In the Labour Affair team, especially in South Wollo Zone in Komblcha and Dessie towns, there are about 12 factories & many private and governmental organization. It is a fact there are some conflicts between the employer and employee during their interaction in the work area. We are finding a solution by giving a treatment based on the proclamation 377/96. Their are association established by the common agreement between the employer and employee for a common interests. Both sides must be guided by the rules made by them selves. Our office used and applied these rules and the proclamation 377/96. Both Labour and Social Affairs Departments are engaged in finding a solution for social problems by rehabilitating the vulnerable group of the society.

So, we need a continuous technical assistance from our Bureau to solve Social and Labour related problems in our zone.
