Powers and Duties
- It implements labour and social welfare policy issues within the region
- It works to ensure the implementations of labour proclamations regulations and directives concerning labour relations.
- It supervises and ensures working condition, occupational safety and health and working environment of workers
- It provides technical assistance to trade unions and employers to form associations and providing legal personality
- It registers collective agreement and ensures its implementation
- It cooperates with concerned offices and organizations in studying the employed and unemployed manpower.
- It prepares training programs concerning the implementation of employment injuries.
- Register job seekers, vacancies, and assist employer in the recruitment of suitable workers for their works.
- Supervise the employment service that is related to foreigners work permit
- It maintains the procedure for the settlement of common labour disputes which arise between workers and employers.
- Conduct studies and compile statistical data relating to working condition, employment service and occupational safety and health
- Promote social dialogue at workplace
- In collaboration to partners promoting different mechanisms that enables to address social problems facing children & their mothers and the family
- It conducts studies and mobilizes resources with relevant bodies to protect the sanctity of the family and the sustainability of marriage
- In collaboration with partners it creates conducive environment to facilitate the provision of support for the elderly, protect and rehabilitate the disabled persons.
- It mobilizes the regional community to reduce social problems.
